James W. Derrick
JAMES W. DERRICK, JR., President and Owner

Derrick is a visionary who has 35 years of real estate under his belt. He is a passionate fundraiser for Children’s Hospital and March of Dimes and was honored as one of the 2006 Volunteers of the Year. In addition, the state’s Governor also presented him with the Order of the Palmetto Award for service in his community, region and state.

Jimmy became president of CENTURY 21 Bob Capes Realtors in 1983 after ten years as a successful real estate salesman and sales manager. His professional affiliations range from state to national associations. He has been voted Realtor® of the Year, and has also received the President’s Excellence Award from the Greater Columbia Association of REALTORS®. His community involvement includes the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the Committee of 100 and several professional real estate organizations. Additionally, he was a founding member of Trendsetters, a national profesional network of brokers. In the greater Columbia area, Jimmy is well known for his dedication to the Children’s Hospital at Palmetto Richland Memorial. The CENTURY 21 Bob Capes Realtors Benefit Tennis Tournament & Auction has raised more than $1,000,000 for this cause.


Susan Fersner

, Assistant to the President and Corporate Services

Susan has resided and worked in the Columbia area for over 30 years. Twenty of these years have been working in the fast paced real estate industry. Susan assist President Jimmy Derrick to ensure that policies and procedures are implemented. Other areas of responsibility involve E & O issues, hiring of support staff and working with Branch Managers and Administrators.

Nancy Cole

Nancy provides administrative support to the Corporate Services Department and to the Office of the President. Nancy has been with the company since 1996 and before that was with SCE&G for 30 years. Nancy is a native of the Columbia area and resides in Chapin, SC on Lake Murray.



MARKETING/TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Barry Shealy
BARRY SHEALY
, Vice President Marketing/Technology

Barry is one of those multi-talented individuals with the background, degrees, professional certifications and designations to warrant his talents. He has received the elite certification of E-PRO 500 and is a member of the Real Estate Cyberspace Society, HTML Writers Guild of America, and Professional Webmasters Association. In addition to serving as Vice President of CENTURY 21® RBCC for the Carolinas, Shealy has served as a judge for the prestigious WebAward for the past six years. Barry is a graduate of USC and holds degrees in theatre, music, and marketing. He has achieved the A+ computer hardware and software certification and owned his own computer store for four years. Barry has given numerous seminars and training classes for the real estate agent wanting to stay abreast of the technological changes taking place in our industry. His achievements as a certified webmaster have been recognized on a national level.

Barry is a licensed REALTOR® and has served on the Education Committee. the RPAC Committee, and the Public Relations Committee for the Greater Columbia Association of REALTORS ®.


Sharon Bergeron

, Marketing Coordinator

Sharon handles newspaper advertising, marketing fliers and brochures for all agents within the company. With more than 15 years experience as a television producer/director, Sharon is highly attuned to deadlines and an expert at juggling several projects simultaneously. Her public relations background has served to expand her copywriting and computer graphics skills, including some Web site development and maintenance. She has ad-ditional experience in the nonprofit arena, including fund raising and event planning.

Sharon has one son, class of 2007 at Irmo High School, who plans to study Zoo Animal Technology when he attends college.

Sharon is also an animal lover with quite a menagerie of exotic pets - ferrets, chinchillas, rats, turtles, cockatiels, a sugar glider, and iguana and a pot-bellied pig.

Ms. Bergeron is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she earned her degree in Journalism and Mass Communications.


Melanie Hutto

, Internet Leads/Upstate Marketing Coordinator

Melanie’s primary responsibility includes handling the company’s Internet leads through its LeadRouter system. The LeadRouter system converts Internet-generated consumer inquiries into voice calls that are delivered to sales associates' cell phones, allowing sales associates to provide immediate responses to clients. Melanie communicates with both clients and agents to facilitate this exchange of information effectively. She also handles the marketing and advertising for the company’s five Upstate offices.

Melanie graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in advertising and a master’s degree in public relations. Her previous experience includes two years of marketing with another real estate company.

Melanie is an Orangeburg, South Carolina native and has resided in Columbia for the past 10 years. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys visiting the beach, spending time with her family and pampering her two dogs Laci and Belle.


Donella Wallace

, Web/Graphic Designer

Donella brings a vast marketing background to CENTURY 21 Bob Capes Realtors, with an emphasis on graphic design and web development. She has worked for several newspapers and, most recently, at her alma mater, The University of Southern Mississippi’s information technology department.

Before moving to Columbia, South Carolina, Donella was a resident of Hattiesburg, MS, having grown up in Biloxi. This past summer, she and her dog, Maggie, packed up and headed to Columbia for new opportunities. The ever-changing world of real estate has definitely been a new opportunity for her.

Donella serves as the graphic designer for CENTURY 21 Bob Capes. She primarily works in the area of new home construction developing logos, advertising materials and Web sites for the new developments. She also provides additional support to the marketing department.

Donella loves day trips, traveling, experiencing new things, visiting her family, and spoiling her dog Maggie.


ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

Renee King
RENEE KING
, Controller

Renee King is the controller of the company's centralized accounting department. She and her staff are responsible for all accounting aspects at both the corporate and branch levels. Renee started her career in accounting as a staff accountant for a local CPA firm in 1986. In 1992 she was recruited by a local real estate firm as their accounting manager. While there, she transferred the manually kept accounting records to a computer software program highly specialized to the real estate industry. Renee moved to CENTURY 21 Bob Capes Realtors in 1994 where she has seen tremendous growth in production.

Renee is an avid University of South Carolina supporter, a member of the Gamecock Club and the Young Republicans and has served as president of her Homeowner's Association.


Michelle Suber
MICHELLE SUBER
, Closing & Sales Coordinator

Michelle has been with CENTURY 21 Bob Capes Realtors for over 10 years and processes all sales for the entire company. She enters data into the accounting systems and works closely with all agents and managers to make certain all paperwork is handled properly.

Kaye, a native of South Carolina, has been in the Greater Columbia area for more than 17 years. She has a total of 12 years experience in the real estate industry. Being a single parent, Kaye has much compassion for transferees and their families. With a military family background Kaye devotes a great deal of time in servicing military transferees. Her professional affiliations are with the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, The Committee of 100, The South Carolina Economic Development Association, the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce, the Newberry Chamber of Commerce and the Association of the United States Army.

Gary COhen, General Manager Upstate Operation

GARY COHEN, General Manager Upstate Operation

With over 35 years of management experience, Gary brings a great wealth of knowledge to the company.

With over 25 years in the hospitality industry, Cohen has learned that nothing takes priority over strong levels of client hospitality and attention to detail; striving every day to exceed expectations, and earn consumer loyalty.

Upon becoming a Real Estate Professional in 1998, he focused not only on residential sales, but investment property on both the ocean front and golf courses in Myrtle Beach and finally opened his own Century 21 office in 2004.

Gary has always been involved within the community and enjoys “giving back”.

In addition to other affiliations, he is active on the Board of Directors of Palmetto Baptist Hospital, Children’s Hospital Development Council, Board of Directors of the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors, and the Legislative Committee of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

While in Atlanta, he served as President of the Buckhead Branch of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Georgia Hospitality & Travel Association and was awarded the Georgia Lodging Leader of the Year.

While in Columbia he served as President of both the Columbia Hotel Association and the South Carolina Hotel Association and President of Children’s Hospital Board at Palmetto Richland Memorial.
In addition, Governor Carroll Campbell awarded Gary, The Order of the Palmetto (the highest service award a civilian can receive in South Carolina).
With such a broad knowledge base, he is extremely comfortable assisting both the investor and the family with their real estate needs.

PAM KRAMER, General Manager Aiken Operation

Pam Kramer has more than 22 years of marketing and real estate service to the Aiken, South Carolina area, achieving numerous top level awards. She serves as the General Manager for CENTURY 21 Eullalie Salley, A Bob Capes Realtors Company.

Among other accomplishments, Pam is a lifetime member of the Aiken Board of REALTORS Circle of Excellence Club and has served as its vice president, Circle of Excellence Club President and Director of its various committees. She has also served as the director for the Aiken Board of REALTORS.
